I earned my degree in Nursing in 2001 and spent over 20 years working as a registered nurse in the operating room, caring for patients through their surgical experiences. I fully retired in 2023, grateful for a long and meaningful career.
I began working in ceramics in 2011, when I took my first class at a local studio that was recommended by a surgeon I worked with whose wife was a potter. It was so grounding and exactly what I needed. My time there was off and on over the next few years due to my hectic career and parenting. However, like so many, COVID changed everything. With all studios closed, I reached out to local artist Jeremy Ayers to see if he needed an assistant. I worked with Jeremy in exchange for studio access for over 3 yrs and during that time also began the building of my own studio in the basement of my home. I am now working solely as a studio potter.
My inspiration comes from the natural world around me here in the Green Mountains of Vermont, where I draw from the textures and colors of the earth and the patterns of the mountains. I aim to capture the essence of nature in my handmade pottery, creating functional stoneware pieces that are both timeless and modern, reflecting the spirit of living in Vermont.
